Two UNC Football Players Arrested

For the third time in less than a month, a college athlete in the Triangle faces charges of assaulting his girlfriend.

Offensive tackle Bryant Malloy is charged with assaulting a female. Police say Malloy was in a night club early Sunday morning when he pushed a woman and punched her in the face. Police say Malloy and the woman were acquainted.

In an unrelated incident, defensive back Errol Hood was charged with felony embezzlement. Hood is charged with taking less than $100 in athletic shoes from a store in which he worked. A school spokesman said the Hood arrest was a misunderstanding that he hopes to clear up.

Both players were suspended from all football-related activities. New football coach John Bunting has not commented.

Two NCSU athletes have been in trouble with the law recently. LinebackerCorey Lyons was arrestedfor domestic violence. Basketball playerAnthony Grundy was chargedwith attacking his girlfriend. From staff and wire reports
