WAKE COUNTY — A brutal crime scene was unfolding early Saturday evening at West Lake Elementary School, where someone shot a cab driver in broad daylight and left him for dead.

Investigators say the shooting occurred around 3:40 p.m. Rescue workers performed CPR at the scene, then rushed the victim, 23-year-old Anthony Jaboin, to Wake Med Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Since then, detectives have been using search dogs to look for any evidence. Right now, they seem to have only one witness who may have seen the suspects leaving the area.

"About 3:40 p.m. today, she was coming by the entrance to this school, she heard a gunshot. She turned around and saw a vehicle come out of the drive," said Capt. T. S. Matthews of the Wake County Sheriff's Department.

Matthews said another vehicle pursued the vehicle for a while until the suspect vehicle turned around on it and went into the opposite direction.

Investigators are looking for two black males in a small gray car.

No motives for the shooting have been established, but detectives say it probably was not robbery because the victim still had money at the time of the shooting and it was still there when he went taken to the hospital.
