N.C. State Student Arrested for Attempted Rape

RALEIGH — Chapel Hill police have arrested an North Carolina State University student for the attempted rape of a Chapel Hill woman.

Police say 22-year-old Marc Rodriguez climbed into an apartment on Airport Road early Saturday morning.

The victim said she woke up around 3 a.m., as the suspect was trying to climb into her bed. According to police reports, she fought back, and he tried to escape, leaving some personal items behind in the apartment.

Later, Chapel Hill police traced the items to Rodriguez, and the woman identified him as her attacker.

Rodriguez, a fifth-year senior at N.C. State, is being held in the Orange County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary and attempted first-degree rape.
