Six Injured in Saturday Afternoon Accident

Posted Updated

GARNER — An accident along N.C. Highway 70 near Garner Saturday afternoon left six people in the hospital -- one listed in critical condition.

Troopers say a pick-up truck heading toward Raleigh was speeding when it plowed into a small gray car.

That car then veered across the median into oncoming traffic where it got slammed again by a driver who said he just could not avoid it.

"I saw this car flying through the air," said Robert Moller, a witness to the accident. "I tried to hit the brakes. I couldn't avoid it."

Eight people were involved in the wreck. The six injured were transported to Wake Med Hospital.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

Earlier Saturday, the accident tied up both the east and westbound lanes near Guy Road.
