RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police said a second jogger may have encountered a vehicle used in an assault earlier this week.
Shortly after 6 a.m. Friday, a woman said she was running north on Wakefield Pines Drive when she noticed a maroon or burgundy car with a loud-sounding exhaust system coming up behind her.

The jogger told authorities that the car passed her and turned off of Wakefield Pines Drive. Police said the jogger continued on her run, but she saw the car a couple of minutes later.

The jogger told police that, at that point, the car remained stopped at an intersection along her intended route, even though no traffic was coming.

According to police, the jogger said she was suspicious, in part because the car’s description matched that of a vehicle involved in an assault reported in the same general area on Tuesday, so she turned and ran in the opposite direction.

Investigators said the jogger said she did not see the car again. No crime was committed.

The jogger said that the car appeared to her to be an older model Honda. She said it was driven by a white male in his teens to 20s.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Raleigh police at 919-890-3555. Anyone who sees a car matching the description of the vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately.
