The Durham Bulls Athletic Park may be one of the best places to spend a summer night -- with peanuts, a cold beverage and the Durham Bulls. You can almost lose yourself in all the fun.
"Sure, there's the baseball, but the on-field promotions, the giveaways, that's all stuff we're going to continue to improve on. We just want to make this place the best family entertainment in the Triangle," says Mike Birling, Bulls assistant general manager.
One of the big draws for the Bulls is the players. They go up to and come down from the majors all the time.
"Just last week we had two guys get called up that pitched here last week and now all of a sudden they're pitching with theDevil Rays," says Birling.
Tinker Parnell has been coming to Bulls games for 50 years. The team has been very successful since the switch to Triple-A, winning their division ever since.
Parnell hopes the Bulls make it to theTriple-A World Seriesin Las Vegas.
"Of course I'd love to go, but that's a little too far. I'll have to listen to them on the radio or TV if it's televised," he says.
The Bulls beat the Columbus Clippers 7-4 Wednesday night in the opening game of the team's five-game playoff series.
The Bulls are back in playoff action against Columbus Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
