RALEIGH — A 250-year-old landmark survived a challenge from Tropical Storm Dennis. There is more than a little water over the dam at Yates Mill Pond today.

Rainwater gushed over the spillway at Yates Mill.

A major restoration of Wake County's only remaining grist mill began two years ago. Work crews have kept the pond level low while work is finished at Yates Mill. No damage has been reported at the mill.

As usual, Crabtree Creek is getting close to the top of its banks.

Monday morning, the water was high but not above flood stage.

But some local areas have seen flooding.

Atlantic Avenue had water over the road early Monday morning.
