Durham Residents Allege Police Brutality

Posted Updated

DURHAM — A group of Durham residents and civil rights activists are voicing their concerns over allegations of police brutality against the Durham Police Department.

They rallied in Durham Sunday.

Curtis Gatewood, the president of the local chapter of the NAACP, says last month Durham police roughed up two elderly people when officers burst into their home with weapons and a police dog.

Police were looking for drugs, but didn't find any.

Durham police officials are conducting an investigation into what happened.

The SBI is conducting a separate investigation.
