Mother, Baby Shot In Vance County

Posted Updated

VANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A mother and her 9-month-old baby were taken to a local hospital after being shot Monday afternoon, Vance County authorities said.

The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. on Crowder Lane, north of Henderson.

The father of the 20-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, told WRAL that two cars pulled up to the residence where the victims were staying and that an argument ensued between the occupants of the cars and a man from inside the residence.

Shots from the care were then fired at the house, resulting in the mother and baby being shot with shotgun pellets. They were taken to a local hospital where they were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said that there were some suspects in custody, but gave no further details.
