LILLINGTON — Give me a G-R-E-A-T! Some North Carolina cheerleaders are sporting the title "National Champs."
The Harnett Central Middle School cheerleading team won a national cheerleading competition this weekend in Jacksonville, Florida.
The proud and happy team received a warm welcome home at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Monday morning.
Coach Marge Elvers says the team prepared for the competition for eight months.
"The routine that we performed in Jacksonville was a five difficulty, so we had to take it a little bit at a time all year long. Of course we were nervous; that was good. But we were also prepared, and that's the key," Elvers said.
Harnett Central had to compete five times before reaching the Nationals.
