RDU Landing Safe But Bumpy; Crew Member Hospitalized

RALEIGH — A jet landed safely at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Sunday night despite encountering serious turbulence on its approach.

None of the 135 passengers were injured, but four members of the flight crew were transported to Rex Hospital.

One flight attendant remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition. Three flight attendants have been treated and released.

American Airlines Flight 1754 ran into trouble about 7:20 p.m. when it underwent a sudden drop.

The plane involved was an MD-80.
