Train Accident Claims Victim Near N.C. State

RALEIGH — Police and emergency workers were on the scene of a fatal train accident near N.C. State late Thursday night.

Police say a man in his mid-20s was walking near the tracks around 9:30 p.m. when he was hit by an Amtrak train.

Police say the engineer saw the man in his lights, but could not stop before hitting him.

The identity of the man has not been established.
