ROBBINS — A two-car crash near Robbins Saturday night has left one man dead and another clinging to life.
According to Highway Patrol trooper Chris Cook, the two cars collided head-on about 8:30 Saturday night on Rt. 24/27.
Charles T. Montjoy, III, 35, of Robbins was killed. The other driver, Jose Perez Candelero, 20, of Candor is in very critical condition at Moore Regional Hospital.
Cook said Montjoy was driving his 1989 Chevrolet eastbound when he was struck by Candelero, driving a 1993 Chevrolet westbound.
Alcohol was involved. Candelero crossed the center line, and on impact his car wound up on the right shoulder.
Montjoy's car was sent onto the shoulder on his side of the road, where it overturned several times and then landed upright.
Candelero will be charged with DUI, driving left of center and no insurance.
