BENSON — A Benson man was killed Saturday evening when the car in which he was riding hit a tree.

Investigating officials said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Ismael Gonzalez, 25, died in the accident.

Two other people were in the car. They were also injured, but officials said their injuries were not life-threatening.

The accident occurred just before 8 p.m. on state road 1168, 2 miles north of Benson.
