Fayetteville Soldier Killed In Helicopter Crash In Vietnam

FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayetteville family is mourning a father, ahusband and a soldier.

Lieutenant Colonel Rennie Cory Jr. wasone of 16 people killed when their helicoptercrashed in the jungles of central Vietnam.

American and Vietnamese officials combed throughthe wreckage Monday.The helicopter team was looking for remains ofU.S. soldiers missing since the Vietnam war.

Cory's widow, Andrea, says his last mission was afitting one.

"I really believed in his sacrifice to hiscountry. But it didn't come because he loved hiscountry, it just came because that's the kindof person he was," she says.

Cory was 43. His wife, four children and father still live inFayetteville. Six other Americans died in the helicoptercrash.
