SIMS, N.C. — A teen has been arrested after an early-morning blaze in Wilson County.
Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities responded to the fire on Healthy Plains Church Road in Sims. Authorities said that firefighters found gas cans with rags inside the can opening. They also determined that a container of gas had been thrown into the bedroom of the homeowners, where the fire originated.
Three people were inside the residence at the time of the fire. They all escaped from the scene without injury.
Shortly after the fire, a 17-year-old male who lived inside the home was taken into custody and charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of arson. He is now being held in the Wilson County Jail without bond.
