Warrants Reveal Details About Durham Quadruple Homicide

DURHAM, N.C. — Previously sealed search warrants in connection with a Durham quadruple homicide investigation reveal new information about the case, including information about a vehicle possibly used by the killers the night of the crime.

Police said Juan Coleman, Jamel Holloway, Lennis Harris Jr. and Jon Skinner were killed execution-style inside a townhouse at 2222 Alpine Road on Nov. 19. Investigators have said very little about the slayings other than that they were drug-related and not random.

Warrants, released Wednesday show that investigators took dozens of pieces of evidence from the crime scene, including postal and digital scales from a bathroom and a white powder substance from a kitchen drawer.

Detectives also seized several items marked "green leafy substance" found throughout the house, along with plastic wrap and a baggie from a bathroom trash can.

Police also found a .9 mm handgun along with bullets, bullet fragments and shell casings. Other evidence included blood-stained clothes from one of the two survivors.

Nearly two weeks after the homicides, court papers show police received a tip about a car possibly used in the crime. Investigators tracked down the car and its owner and processed the car and questioned the owner.

The search warrant continues to say that police found the car owner's fingerprints inside the townhouse on a bedroom door near the bodies, but he told WRAL that he had loaned his car to a friend that evening and that his fingerprints were inside the townhouse because he had been to the house on previous occasions.

The man, whose name is not being released by WRAL because police say he is not a suspect, also said that he had nothing to do with the four deaths and is cooperating with police.

Witnesses said they saw three men running from the townhouse on the night of the slayings, but nearly two months after the deaths, police have not made any arrests.

One man was described as a black male with a light complexion, standing 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing dark jeans and a black and white jacket.

The second man was described as a stocky black male, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a burgundy flight jacket and jeans.

The third man was described as a black male with a medium complexion, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. He was wearing a black flight jacket and blue jeans.

In December, Durham Police Chief Steve Chalmers told WRAL that the case remained a top priority for investigators and that he was optimistic about an arrest.

Authorities are offering up to $13,000 for information leading to the arrests and convictions of those responsible for the homicides.
