Lord & Taylor To Close Raleigh Store

RALEIGH, N.C. — Federated Department Stores confirmed Wednesday that it will close the Triangle's only Lord & Taylor store.

Employees were told the 120,000-square-foot store will close for good on Feb. 28. It opened at Crabtree Valley Mall in 1996.

Federated spokeswoman Sharon Bateman said there will be a liquidation sale, though she wasn't sure when it will start.

Lord & Taylor announced it would close 32 stores back in 2003, but until now the company would not confirm that Crabtree was among the closing stores.
