RALEIGH — Thursday night, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Wake, Northern Harnett and Johnston counties.
The Lee county 911 reported wind damage including downed trees and power lines in the extreme Northern part of the county.
Raleigh Skywarn reported .75 inch hail in Wake County and specifically in Holly Springs, Cary and Apex.
The weather service suggested that all citizens remain in their homes during the storm and to stay away from the windows.
The severe weather included a great deal of lightning, heavy winds, strong rain and hail.
A tornado watch was also in effect for the entire WRAL viewing area until midnight.
Severe thunderstorms swept through other parts of North Carolina earlier on Thursday.
