SMITHFIELD — A Johnston County woman is feeling lucky to have gotten away from a man who tried to kidnap her. Deputies say the woman was driving West on Interstate-40 Wednesday when a man appeared from the back seat of her mini-van and grabbed her by the neck.
The woman jumped out of the van as it slowed down during the struggle. The suspect drove off in her vehicle.
The sheriff's department has posted a sketch on its internet site, hoping someone will recognize the suspect and give officers a call. If you have information about the suspect, call the919-989-5025.
