LUMBERTON — The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that took the lives of two Lumberton residents Sunday morning.
George Lee Locklear, 22, and Natasha Brooks, 18, died when the car they were in ost control and hit a tree.
Authorities said the car was traveling on Highway 72, just west of Lumberton. Speed was estimated to be about 100 miles an hour.
According to authorities, alcohol and fog also played roles in the crash.
The couple leave a 3-year-old daughter, who was not in the car.
