Posted December 4, 1998
RALEIGH — North Carolina State University students are pressuring federal investigators to find a young woman who disappeared more than a year ago.
Kristen Modafferi was a sophomore at State. She was taking a summer course in California when she disappeared.
Friday, students collected signatures on a petition. They hope to change the way missing adult cases are handled.
The students hope to found an organization that looks for missing adults, as well as for missing children.
Students will continue to circulate their petition on campus. They hope to convince 9,000 people to sign on.
