Bridge Work Affects Raleigh Drivers

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Raleigh motorists will be detoured as two bridges over Raleigh's Capital Boulevard have medians replaced.

The Wade Avenue bridge will be closed Monday night at 7 p.m. and will reopen Tuesday at 6 a.m. Detours will be posted during the work.

Traffic on inbound Wade Avenue heading to northbound Capital Boulevard will be detoured south on inbound Capital Boulevard up to Peace Street, east on Peace and then north to outbound Capital.

Traffic on northbound Capital Boulevard heading to outbound Wade Avenue will detour to Fairview Road and then left onto the service road to outbound Wade Avenue.

The Fairview Road bridge will be closed during most of the day this week because of the median replacement. The work will be under way from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through next Monday, during which hours the bridge will be closed to traffic.

Detours will take drivers heading to Fairview Road on northbound Capital Boulevard to the Wade Avenue bridge. They will take Wade Avenue to Glenwood Avenue and then back to Fairview Road. Southbound Fairview Road traffic will be detoured via the service road at the north end of the Fairview Road bridge to Capital Boulevard.
