CLAYTON — Some people with very strong bodies are spending the weekend helping those whose bodies have been weakened by multiple sclerosis.

The strong are biking.

Hundreds of people began a 150-mile cycling expedition in Clayton Saturday. Among the biking enthusiasts is Chris Thompson, a WRAL-TV5 WeatherCenter meteorologist.

Thompson, along with the others, will pedal the back roads of Eastern North Carolina on a two-day trip that ends in Emerald Isle.

The cyclists are collecting donations that will go to MS research and local programs.
