WAKE COUNTY — A highway patrol officer was injured Sunday evening during a chase on I-40 in Wake County.
Cary police were chasing a van carrying an alleged shoplifter when the highway patrol officer tried to intercept. The van slammed into the trooper's cruiser.
Officials investigating the crash said the trooper and the driver of the van was taken to the hospital. According to investigators, none of the injuries are life-threatening.
The suspect, who was riding in the van, was arrested.
