Fayetteville, N.C. — Fayetteville police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened outside a recreation center parking lot early Wednesday evening.
Gerard Garland, 25, of Fayetteville, was shot in the head in the parking lot of the Arthur D. Smith Recreation Center, which is part of J.W. Seabrook Park, authorities said.
Eddie O. Pew, 22, of 1907 Newark Ave., has been charged with second-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in connection with the shooting.
Police said the two men were apparently involved in an altercation at the time of the shooting.
