— Raleigh police are asking for the public's help to find a man who they believe grabbed a woman on her morning jog.

According to authorities, the woman was running in her neighborhood at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when someone grabbed her near the intersection of Falls River Road and Hopeton Avenue.

Police said the man grabbed the woman by the arm, but that she was able to get away and alert neighbors.

Authorities believe the assailant fled the area in a older-model red or burgundy car that might have been a Mazda or a Volvo. Witnesses said the car had a loud muffler.

The assailant is described as a white male in his 20s, standing about 5 feet 10 inches and weighing almost 190 pounds. He also has "shaggy," light, brown hair and was wearing jeans, a dark-colored sweatshirt with a pocket in the front and sneakers.

Anyone with information should contact the Raleigh Police Department at 919-890-3555.

Karate against a man twice your size? Ya right, get a gun learn how to use it then if he attacks you he'll never attack anyone again.

I live in this neighborhood (Bedford at Falls River - located off of Falls of Neuse Rd, north of 540) and this is darn scary! I thought if anyplace was safe, it was here...

I walk in the daytime, and I try to have someone to walk with me.

Could you add the map of the area where this occurred? When the website was re-vamped, this was one useful feature that was deleted. As far as race and gender, etc in the write-up; sometimes this information is part of the description we can use to apprehend this jerk. Thanks.

I am a runner and I don't run alone unless it's during the day. I know alot of women who go out to Shelley Lake early morning to run. I have even encountered women running or hiking alone in Umstead. That is so CRAZY!

You can get a stun gun or pepper spray over the internet or from your local gun store. They are both good "non-lethal" weapons.

I use to run in the early morning with mace. One morning, the paper boy was on his route (by foot) and came into my line of sight. He startled me and I almost maced him. I shutter to think what may have happened if I had had a gun. Sooo, I no longer run in the morning. Instead of packin' a gun I'm packin' about 20 additional pounds! :(

This is why I don't even walk my dogs without my "Little Buddy" the stun gun.

It is a shame that a lady can't go for a run in her own neighborhood without being assaulted. If I were a lady running this day and time I would get a small handgun and a permit to carry it. Something else ladies, if you have a headset on to listen to music while you walk or run it makes you easy prey. You can't hear them coming. It can also keep you from hearing traffic or a dog coming after you. I know they had a problem with this a few years ago in Raleigh, I wonder if this could be the same man. All women should beware he didn't get what he was after, so he will attack again. Another good idea is to have a running partner. I hope they catch him soon.
