Durham Teen To Be Retried For Elderly Neighbor's Death

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham teenager will be put on trial again for the death of his elderly neighbor.

In September, a judge declared a mistrial in the homicide case against Gregory Lee, who was accused of killing 89-year-old Lois Cannady after a jury was unable to reach a verdict on the first-degree murder charge.

Prosecutors say that in June 2002, Lee led three other teenagers to Cannady's home to steal her car; she was shot to death while on the phone with 911, authorities say.

Lee's new trial is expected to start Feb. 20.
