— A Raleigh man said a big wheel could work wonders at Pullen Park.

Bill Garrabrant met with members of the Park Board Tuesday to discuss the addition of a ferris wheel.

Garrabrant, who acquired a train caboose for the park 30 years ago, said the ferris wheel would be a big draw.

The ferris wheel is expected to cost about $1.5 million.

This is really all abot a man's dreamand obsession with ferris wheels. Pullen is not the plac for it. Space, security, parking? How bout' up on Dix Hill. Plenty of room there and better view.

I have fond memories at Pullen Park and would be very happy to see something new there for children to enjoy. However, I would not think that purchasing a very large Ferris Wheel is practical, we need to preserve the beauty of the area. I think the more that is placed in pullen park the less "park" there is for the children to run and play in.

I'm against it. Pullen Park is already so crowded, on weekends, that it's no longer a pleasure to go there.

It's a great idea. Scrooges begone!

The park is surrounded by "good neighbors, like NCSU, the School for the Blind, and WRAL. It's one of downtown Raleigh's best kept secrets and one of the most popular parks in the area. Yes, going to Pullen Park is a special treat for most kids! It was for us, it was for my kids, and it is for my grandkids. I'm all for keeping it fun!

Oh and by the way, there is a fee to ride on the rides, a fee to use the picnic shelters, and a fee to use the aquatic center (individuals and birthday parties). It may not be a money generator but it's not free either.

You people for whom money is more important than quality of life - Dagone it, I just have to feel sorry for you.

Great idea.. you dudes out there... do you have any memory of when you were a kid....???? Do it for the kids!!! FUN!!! It's not a waste of money! We waste too much on politicians, unneeded, unnecessary things... think about the kids for once! It's a small price to pay.. Look at the train.. it has been there for 30 years.... still in use.. got their money's worth out of it... give LIFE , CLEAN entertainment a try!

A ferris wheel would be a great idea and definately add to the fun of Pullen Park. Are they going to have security on hand to make sure that idiot vandals are kept out? Look what a bunch of idiots did to the train last year. $1.5 million is a lot of money to spend on something that will potentially be damaged/destroyed by stupid people.

I think it is a great idea. Pullen Park is very much like an amusement park with the train, carousel and pedal boats. My kids love to go there especially to ride the train and carousel. I can only imagine the kind of money they make on all that they have to offer. We go to several birthday parties every year there not to mention class trips. It would draw in the children and their parents.
