Shelter Opens in Raleigh

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Some homeless people in Raleigh now have a temporary place to call home.

"Wake Friends of the Homeless" opened a new shelter for children and their families Saturday.

The emergency shelter, which is on South Person Street, will house up to 12 people, and provide both food and counseling.

The home will accept single men and women as well as families with children.

Those staying at the shelter must have referrals and sponsors.
