RALEIGH — The retrial of the man accused of killing a Raleigh Police Officer is still on for August 10.
The State Supreme Court Thursday denied a request today to block the retrial of Kawame Mays. Last May, a judge declared a mistrial in the shooting death of Detective Paul Hale after the jury deadlocked. Mays was convicted and given a life sentence in the death of Michael Walker.
Mays' attorney says he'll now take his request to federal court.
