Power Still Off for Hundreds of N.C. Residents

Officials said it could be Thursday before power is restored in Durham and Orange counties after Monday's windy weather.

More than 50,000 people in North Carolina are still without power because of Monday's windy weather.

Duke Energy officials said at one point, there were 217,500 outages statewide. Progress Energy said there were 70,000 outages at its peak.

Officials also said it could be Thursday before all the lights are back on in Durham and Orange counties.

Duke Energy said more than 250 customers in Orange County and almost 200 customers in Durham County remain without power.

Progress Energy is not reporting any remaining outages in the Raleigh area.
