DURHAM — An armed man fired one shotgun blast at Durham's police headquarters building, and continued to hold officers at bay for much of Monday afternoon.

Police say Victor Yarborough has now been taken into custody, after they routed him out of a motel room by using tear gas.

Yarborough was apparently upset over being evicted from Temporary Quarters Inn on West Chapel Hill Street.

Yarborough fired on police headquarters, which is across the street from the inn, at about 3 pm Monday.
