— Wake County school officials and Raleigh police on Friday issued warnings to parents after two girls reported being followed home by two men in a white car.

A 12-year-old girl said she was walking home Wednesday from her local YMCA in north Raleigh and noticed a white car as she entered the Stratford Hall subdivision. The car slowly followed her, and then one man got out and followed her on foot, she said.

The girl said she walked faster, made it home safely and told her mother, who called police. The girl said the car stayed parked in front of the house for a few minutes before driving off.

A few miles away, a 13-year-old girl from the Falls River neighborhood said she was walking home from a bus stop Wednesday when a white car with two men inside followed her.

School district administrators also have notified school staff about the incidents.

Ok I want those who are saying the girls' should have gotten plate numbers and descriptions instead of getting away safely to say that to the girls fathers. And then while you are picking up your teeth from the floor you can second guess your own selves and proofread your stupid statements before hitting the send button. Really, when your mother said to think before you speak, she knew what she was talking about.

Wakenative posted the most ridiculous comments I've ever heard. Do you really think waving to sexual predators is going to change the evil in their hearts? How naive. Do you think waving to Cho Seung-Hui would have stopped him from murdering 32 innocent people at Virginia Tech this week? Absolutely not. Do you think the crime increase in urban areas is because some white people moved to the suburbs? How absurd. You are right about one thing, that crime is everywhere. All the more reason to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity, especially when it comes to children. I'm not going to let myself become a victim because you think I should.

Classist elitists often invite crime on themselves by trying to ignore social problems. Criminals are every where. Not to mention "White Flight" ie. the exodus from inner cities by the middle class to the suburbs in the sixties and seventies didn't help the social problems of America. Community awareness and confrontation by the adults are what is going to help solve these problems. If you see someone you don't know driving in your community, wave at them, acknowledge their presence somehow and let them know they've been seen, and you will help remove alot of problems.

I grew up in the said area & unfortunately, it's not as safe of a place as we like to think it is. I experienced the same kinds of things when I lived there and it's definitely unnerving. I'm just sad at how young these kids are & how they're being given so much freedoms. Occurances such as these are unavoidable, however, we can equipt the children with valuable skills in order to get away. I just hope they catch these S.O.B's soon.

& for those of you who suggested they get the license plate/photos etc. I suggest you read up about studies done into EWT, as well as leading questions, reconstructive memory & stress. This might help you understand why they acted like they did.

btw- those things are always easier said than done, & hindsight is always 20/20.

"If you are talking about the Wakefield area I live there also. As far as the burglaries go allot of the crime is coming from the apartments next to the ymca. I have talked to allot of people that does work inside those apartments and they have stories about all the people on house arrest and ghetto thugs that live in them. Just drive thru there one night if you dont believe me! We pay a half million on up for are house and there moving the ghetto right next door to us. I am seriously thinking about selling and moving to a gated community."

Gee, gtk, I don't know where to start. Perhaps, I will simply point out the vulnerability of your post and allow others the opportunity to school you, both literally and figuratively.

cdkimbro, as youngsters we are taught to get away as quick as we can. I can't blame them for not sticking around. Sticking around might have caused problems for them. They did the right thing.

This incident happened near where my High School is. I have friends who have sibblings that age and some of them are a little freaked out.
