SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Prosecutors said they don't plan to seek the death penalty against a Johnston County woman charged in her husband's death last fall.

Penny Dierickx, 54, of 104 Heart Wood Court in Clayton, is charged with murder in the October slaying of her husband, Larry Dierickx, whose body was found in South Carolina with his hands bound with duct tape and mouth taped shut.

Investigators identified Larry Dierickx through a grocery store discount card. They said they saw something suspicious inside the couple's home and arrested his wife after questioning her.
