— Prosecutors said they don't plan to seek the death penalty against a Johnston County woman charged in her husband's death last fall.

Penny Dierickx, 54, of 104 Heart Wood Court in Clayton, is charged with murder in the October slaying of her husband, Larry Dierickx, whose body was found in South Carolina with his hands bound with duct tape and mouth taped shut.

Investigators identified Larry Dierickx through a grocery store discount card. They said they saw something suspicious inside the couple's home and arrested his wife after questioning her.

This is completely ridiculous! With the previous accusations against this woman, i.e. hitting her husband in the head with a hammer, as well as the current charges and no death penalty?!!? Who did she pay off? I would really love to see someone dive into this story and determine exactly what deal she made to remove the death penalty from the table!

murder is murder regardless of WHO commits the crime. i believe the death penalty should be sought

They are ALWAYS easier on women who commit heinous crimes. WHY? I think ANYONE who can kills someone else and coldly dump their body should be given the death penalty, man or woman.

The police, prosecutors, judge, laws etc nearly ALWAYS act with favoritism, unwarranted sympathy and protection toward women. There is clear and strong bias against men because of their gender. A major culprit for the strife between men and women (especially those who are married) is because divorce and child custody laws are very unfair toward men.

Go For It and mdawson289...I agree with you both. To many double standards. Even when a man kills his child/children they seek death...a woman kills hers and she goes to jail. I can't believe all the women in the News/CourtTV who have killed their husband's lately.
