RALEIGH, N.C. — A motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon when he collided with a sport utility vehicle on Wake Forest Road, police said.

Jason Alexas Joyce, 29, of 3813 Boddie Drive in Raleigh, was southbound on Wake Forest Road between Six Forks Road and Creekside Drive when he collided with a GMC driven by Edward Graham Stephenson, 68, of 2334 Elevation Road in Four Oaks shortly after noon, police said.

Joyce was pronounced dead at WakeMed, police said.

Stephenson told investigators that he was turning left into a business when he heard a motorcycle engine revving and saw a motorcycle approaching at a high rate of speed, police said.

No charges have been filed in the case, which remains under investigation.

The wreck closed one side of Wake Forest Road, snarling traffic, as police investigated and cleared the scene.
