12 Injured When Prison Van Struck by Car

print friendly

When a car and a van packed with prison inmates tangled, 12 people were hurt in grinding wreck. Police say a Ford Probe ran a stop sign in Lumberton, causing the van to smash into it.

Both vehicles rolled.

A child in the car, who was not strapped into a safety seat, was thrown through the back window. The child was rushed to the hospital, but is expected to be okay.

Eight inmates and the driver of the van were also injured.

The driver of the car is facing charges.
