RALEIGH — Lifeguards jumped to the rescue Friday at a public pool in Raleigh. Just before noon, lifeguards at Chavis Park noticed a girl lying motionless at the bottom of the public pool.

They brought her to the surface and performed CPR to revive her. She was then taken to Wake Medical Center as a precaution.

The city says the pool had the required amount of lifeguards on duty. Raleigh has had a shortage of lifeguards this summer, but says safety has never been compromised.
