Cemetery Vandals Have Their Day in Wake Co. Court

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Three Wake County teens who vandalized the Piney Grove Baptist church cemetery appeared in court and received their sentence Friday.

Sixteen-year-old Michael Johnson, 16-year-old Charles Ray Dean, and 18-year-old William Borbas have admitted to the felony charge of desecrating a grave site. They've been entered into a felony diversion program, which means if they complete the terms of their one year probation and stay clean, then their records will be wiped clean.

The probation terms require each teen to perform 225 hours of community service through the church and each to pay $500 in restitution to the church.

The vandalism happened in early March at the church cemetery in southern Wake County, near Fuquay-Varina.
