Raleigh Festival is "Hot Stuff"

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — At the Pullen Express International Food Festival at Pullen Park Saturday everything was hot and spicy!

Hundreds of people came for the fun -- and they didn't let the heat cheat them out of good time.

Arts and cultures from all over the world made themselves at home in Pullen Park. Representatives from nine nationalities put on their best and brightest traditional costumes and prepared their most popular fare.

The Triangle has attracted internationals from around the world, and such festivals allow them to share a touch of back-home cuisine and fun.

Turnout at this second annual Pullen Express was a little low. Organizers blame the heat and the threat of rain. But most festival-goers were able to find a shady spot and a cool treat to hit the spot.

When the thermometer starts to soar, and you need to be outdoors for a long period of time, always look for shady spots to rest, drink plenty of water and try to wear light clothing.
