Woman Involved in Several Accidents Exhibited Strange Behavior

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — Fayetteville police report they handled a strange accident at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, when 58-year-old Linda Faircloth struck struck one car, then a pickup truck, then crashed beneath a tanker.

Faircloth was driving down Murchison Road when she hit the car and kept going. She then hit the pickup truck and bounced off. At that point, she crashed underneath the rear end of a tanker truck, where she remained pinned until rescuers could free her.

She remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say Faircloth has diabetes and was disoriented at the time of the accidents. They say they're not sure if her medical condition was a contributing factor in the crashes, but that they are still investigating.

No one else was injured.

Because of the accidents, Murchison Road, one of Fayetteville's busiest thoroughfares, was shut down for about an hour.
