Wilson Man Charged in Fremont Slaying

A 35-year-old man was arrested late Monday and charged with the weekend slaying of his girlfriend, police said.

FREMONT, N.C. — A 35-year-old man was arrested late Monday and charged with the weekend slaying of his girlfriend, police said.

Antonio Artis, of Wilson, was charged with murder in connection with the death of Shana Hutchins, police said.

Hutchins, 28, was found dead in her home on Goldsboro Street in Fremont on Saturday.

Police haven't released details about how Hutchins died or a possible motive.

The case remains under investigation by the Fremont Police Department, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.
