Man Arrested in Fatal Cemetery Attack

LUMBERTON — Lumberton police have arrested a man on charges he committed a gruesome crime.

Jesse Allan Johnson, Jr, faces charges of first degree murder and rape.

Investigators say he raped and beat a woman and left her for dead in a Lumberton cemetery.

Although the woman survived the immediate attack, she later died in a hospital.
