— Police are investigating a shooting that occurred outside the Durham County Courthouse.

The shooting occurred before 3:30 p.m. outside First Presbyterian Church, 305 E. Main St., which is across the street from the courthouse, police said.

A man who had appeared in court on domestic violence charges told police he was jumped by three men in the church parking lot. The man said he grabbed a gun from his car and fired several shots at the car he said was carrying the men who assaulted him.

No one was wounded in the shooting.

Both the man and the alleged suspects were questioned by police, but no charges have been filed in the case yet.

"My question-comment is: If this guy was appearing on domestic violence charges....what the "heck" was he doing with a firearm? Why was that not taken away from him? I thought the law stated that he would have to surrender any or all? Is he being charged with this? If not...why not?????"

Because its easy to get a gun on the streets...gun control doesn't stop the flow of illegal guns on the streets. It would be nice if he obeyed the law but cmon, its Durham. All the charges get plead down in court anyway....if you ever commit a crime, do it in Durham.

wildside, the comment about New Orleans was in very bad taste. Some really good people lived there and lost everything, changed things for them forever, lost beloved family members and you have the nerve to call it a toilet. How would you feel if someone called your hometown a toilet, shame on you. Take a good look around the Raleigh area, there's toilets everywhere, your just not looking close enough
