FAYETTEVILLE — Cumberland County sheriff deputies arrested a teacher at the New Hope Christian Academy Tuesday afternoon, and charged her with molesting two children.

Teacher Christine Laurie Rehrer is being held under $75,000 bond, and is charged with sex offenses involving two juveniles.

Rehrer's father, who is the school's pastor and an administrator, fired his daughter after discussing the allegations.

"I talked to my daughter and she said no," Carl Rehrer said. "And then the news people came in and I said to her you just have to go, that's how it transpired. She got her severance pay like anyone else does, two weeks, and she was gone. But I love her, she's my daughter."

Rehrer is charged with 3 counts of statutory rape on a 14-year-old, 3 counts of statutory sex offense on a 14-year-old, and four counts of taking indecent liberties with a juvenile.

Rehrer was a ninth grade teacher at New Hope Christian Academy.

Carl Rehrer said that this is the first year the 32-year-old has taught at the school.

Investigators said that the alleged sex offenses took place off school grounds.

"We just need people to pray for us. Don't condemn us," Carl Rehrer said. "And I'd ask you to pray for my daughter, and pray for her children. We're going to get through this because the lords going to get us through it."
