Weird Scientists Make Learning Fun

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — If you've ever owned a chemistry set, then you know how much fun it is to experiment. Sometimes the right mixture can create some unusual results.

Out & About tests the theory that science can be fun with a little creativity. WRAL's Tracy Wilson met up with some "weird scientists" from the N.C. State UniversityPhysics Departmentfor some wild and wacky science experiments.

In their annual demonstration,"Isaac & Albert's Excellent Adventure,"Mike Smith and Keith Warren share the excitement and magic of physics with kids of all ages.

Smith says the fun, hands-on demonstrations keep kids interested. Warren says it's important for kids to learn that science doesn't have to be scary... after all, we live it everyday!

This years demonstration will focus on heat and liquids. Take cover as the scientists create a hydrogen explosion and make magic with liquid nitrogen.

The wacky science demonstration happens tonight (Friday April 24th) at 7:30 at 222 Dabney Hall on the NC State University Campus. For more information on the performance, call919-515-6118. Watch Tracy's Out & About segments weekdays at 6:40 and 7:05 a.m. on WRAL's Morning News
