State & Federal Agents Raid Cumberland County Home

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — State and Federal drug agents have raided what appears to be an illegal drug factory hidden on a quiet, residential street in Cumberland County.

WRAL's John McDonnell reports undercover officers and a private environmental crew wearing protective clothing, hauled barrels and other items from the home at 5204 Spruce Drive. The street had been closed off to traffic for most of the day.

SBI agents confirm two federal search warrants have been served and several seizures have since been made. Agents on the scene say the warrants and seizures are part of an ongoing investigation.

Jerry Walton, and other residents of the neighborhood, suspect drugs were being manufactured at the home.

Listen toauorRealAudiofiles."I understand they were drugs and getting them out of there was certainly the right thing to do."Authorities are not confirming or denying that a methamphetamine lab was set up in some part of the residence. Undercover agents do say the bust is part of a six month undercover operation, a federal case being handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
