— One man is dead and another man is in the hospital following a shooting in northern Wake County.

Deputies got the call shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived at the intersection of Mount Vernon Church Road and Old Creedmoor Road, they found two men who had been shot.

Authorities said Steven Edward Adkins, 41, of Clayton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Virgil Rafael Antonio Del Cid, 27, of Wendell, is listed in stable but serious condition at WakeMed.

Investigators said the two men did know each other. Deputies said they are continuing to investigate the incident, but they are not actively looking for suspects.

I know the guy that got shot. Del Sid shot Steven Adkins. I don't know how Del Sid got shot. Just to let everyone know, Mr. Adkins was a very kind and loving father and friend. He was fun to be around and always kind. It is horrible to hear about his death. I just can't comprehend how someone could kill him like that.... He had a loving daughter and wife, as well as other family and friends.

Doesn't say anything about one shooting the other, just that both were shot...hello

Good thing they did this at an intersection. You all would be singing a different tune if a stray bullet hit you or your kid in the car.

yeah, they knew each other. But you've also got to remember self defense in all of this. If someone were to pull out a gun on you and lets say you had one, would you not pull one back out in self defense?

I don't think I'd associate myself with a family member who would be involved in something like this. Knew each other means they were likely arguing and if this is how my family member would settle a fight, then I wouldn't have anything to do with them.

No real loss here!? There is a loss for the family and friends of the one who is no longer here. I bet if it were your family or friend you wouldn't be saying that.
