Police say Medlin started a one man crime spree at the Crescent Commons parking lot on Kildaire Farm Road. He's accused of driving into an Apex woman. While she was lying on the ground injured, police said Medlin got out of the stolen car and snatched her purse, then got back in the car and led police on a chase.

Investigators say Medlin -- driving a stolen PT Cruiser -- sideswiped one vehicle and rear-ended another at the intersection of

Buck Jones Road and Walnut Street

. Witnesses told WRAL that Medlin jumped out of the car and ran.

"He got out while the car was still going, before it even hit the guardrail, then the cops immediately started chasing him and they found him on the roof of the hotel," said Mike Jones, who saw the scene unfold 20-feet in front of his car as he was waiting for at the traffic light.

Cornered and out of options, emergency workers managed to get Medlin off the roof, strapping him to a stretcher and hauling him off the hospital. That's his last stop before jail. He was booked into the Wake County Jail after being treated for minor injuries.

Detectives are now looking into whether Medlin is responsible for a series of recent robberies in the Crossroads area. He's charged with felony hit and run and possession of stolen vehicle, with more charges pending. As for the Apex woman who was hit, she was treated and released.
