A Raleigh family is now missing the front wall of their house. Two cars collided at the

corner of Pender Street and St. Augustine Avenue

on Friday afternoon, sending one barreling through the home.

Timing is everything. The car destroyed the front bedroom of the home. According to neighbors, it's the bedroom where a handicapped boy sleeps. But at 11 a.m. the room was empty.

"I was in the house and heard a loud noise," said neighbor Cheryl Grissom.

Grissom lives across the street, and heard what police said was a car crash at the intersection involving an SUV and the car. The car plowed through the home.

"Trying to figure out how that happened," said Grisshom.

So are investigators, who said the drivers of both the car and the SUV were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. No one inside the home was hurt.

The same can't be said for the house. The family will have a lot of work to do before using that part of the house again.
